Description
Dropwort – Filipendula vulgaris –
Beautiful and charming plant – like a diminutive meadowsweet, to which it is related. Finely ferny leaves and clusters of white flowers. Doesn’t mind wet spots, and does well in most soil types. Unfussy, deer-resistant; a great cottage garden plant.
Although not often featured in modern herbalism anymore, Dropwort was a go-to herb for kidney complaints according to Culpepper.
Can also be used as a dye plant, combined with a copper mordant, yields a black dye!
