Description

Perennial, open-pollinated, heirloom, bunching onion. Suitable for growing in greenhouses, garden plots, raised beds, and containers.

Shimonita Town is where these famous Japanese bunching onions originate. It is considered the ‘King of the Negi’ for its fat white root ends and delectable sweet flavor when cooked. Utilize any part of this plant for its oniony flavor.

Shimonita Negi is takes longer to mature than Ishikura and Heshiko, it is very “long-day” in onion style – the bulb begins to fatten at a 13-hour day length.

There are many plants or sets per pot!
To grow as annuals – split up the pot of seedlings into individual sets and plant 2-3 inches apart.
To grow as perennials – don’t split up the pot – simply lift the whole clump of sets into the spot you want them to grow permanently.
