Tours and Walks at Midsummer Farm
We do various tours and walks of our garden-farm throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Taking inspiration from permaculture, our style is natural and wild. More and more of our garden spaces are filling in with 'guilds' or family-style groups of plants that support each other naturally and build strong ecosystems. Our plantings are diverse - mini food forests, beds for developing specific species, food and homesteading plants, shade and fern plantings, and more. We love to see what plants volunteer. And our herb plantings are extensive.
Check out our current schedule of tours and walks below...
Seasonal Herb & Weed Walks
A tour through our herb beds, gardens, ephemerol woodland plantings, and greenhouse. Meet the herbs that you have been reading about, and that we talk about in our herbal workshops. We grow many of our herbs in groups according to herbal family or use, and we also grow our herbs in communities or guilds of mixed species and varieties for optimal growth. You'll go home with a clearer vision of how to grow a variety of herbs and lots of inspiration.
And we'll forage around as well and find a wide diversity of wonderful edible and medicinal "weeds" that have sprung up and volunteered around our garden farm (We did encourage them a bit!). These same "weeds" are probably growing in your yard and garden too! And now, you'll be able to safely recognize and identify them.

Garden-Farm Tour of Midsummer Farm
We get lots of requests for farm tours, but we have found that we have to be efficient with our time management during the growing season. But we do try to reserve a couple of days for doing farm tours. These tours are very seasonal in nature and focus on organic food production, sustainable and intensive growing methods, permaculture concepts, and micro-farming.
Next Tour Date - TBD

Tour the Greenhouse at Midsummer Farm
We have a small greenhouse, but we make a lot happen in it! The entire theme of the greenhouse changes dramatically as the year progresses, moving from propagation to summer harvests to winter harvests. We also couldn't help ourselves but add some warm-climate perennials like Pride of Madeira, ginger, and turmeric, as well as a jungle of fig trees and other tropical fruit trees. This tour is limited to eight people at a time.
Next Tour Date - TBD
Timing is from 9 - 11 am (must be early as it gets hot fast in there!)
$25 per person
