Dreamroot is a catchfly or silene. It has sticky stems and sepals under the flowers that can actually catch small insects, thought to protect flower parts. But it probably also doubles as a way to collect extra nutrients, as vegetative pieces also get stuck and decompose on the sticky stems and can be absorbed.
