We'll spend the afternoon exploring the medicinal qualities and general wonderfulness of this native species that thrives in shady and part-shady spots. We will discuss the gerneal qualities of this genus - which contains over 50 species, many of which are native to North America.

We'll dig up some roots from one of our patches of Polygonatum odoratum, a particularly attractive species with its variegated leaves. Everyone can bring home some plantable rhizomes to start your own patches. We will discuss everything you need to know to grow your own patch.

We'll harvest roots for making medicine as well, and we'll spend the second half of the workshop in our herbal workshop, where we will process the roots into tincture as well as set them up for drying and explore other medicinal uses of Solomon's Seal...

And we will make one of my most useful salves from previously dried roots - Made with Solomon's Seal combined with chickweed (which acts synergistically to power-up the benefiicial effects of Solom's Seal root. This is my go-to salve for muscle spasms, aches and pains, as well as sprains and joint injuries. It's a recipe I have been making for over 20 years, that I found in an old Native American medicinal herbal.

Cost includes all materials including Solomion's Seal roots and a Solomon's Seal salve, and a dye project.  And you’ll also be going home with great info, new inspirations, and more!
