Description
Mukdenia rossii ‘Karasuba’ or Red Leafed Mukdenia
I fell in love with these shade plants – although my shade garden is mostly native herbs, I just had to include these. This unique Heuchera relative native to China has large, green, fan-shaped leaves. Beginning in summer, red pigmentation begins to creep inward from the edges and by fall, they are fire red. The foliage forms a low, spreading mound.
Although this plant is grown mainly for its attractive foliage, I find the flowers just delightful in early spring. They are delicate white, star-shaped and appear on tall stems over the young foliage…
Shade / Part-Sun. Gradually spreads into a nice ground cover. Mukdenia grows well in containers as well.
