Hollyhock – Mars Magic (gallon pot)

Description

Bright red, with a touch of salmon, single flowers are produced on tall, sturdy stalks in midsummer. Classic Hollyhock style.

These are official perennial hollyhocks (many hollyhock varietes are biennials). These plants are one year old so they will bloom this year.

Feel free to grow hollyhocks under Black Walnut trees; they are tolerant of the juglone that is emitted through the trees’ roots.

Along a fence is a great spot to plant these – they will need some staking…

I really love hollyhocks and mallows – I just find the whole group of plants to be inspiring in how multi-purpose they are. Summer Blooming; Prefers Full Sun Exposure although will do ok in partial sun.
