Description
Autumn Brilliance Fern – Dryopteris erythrosora – This is a sturdy fern with shiny fronds that start orange and change to dark green as they mature. Stunning and dependable. I put these in the bottoms of large potted trees I bring inside the house for the winter and they do well even under those adverse conditions. Great though grown outside among the other shade-loving perennials or in your fernery.
This fern is particularly glossy – adding light and depth to shade gardens. They fronds start out in a glossy salmon-orange color with greenish-yellow tones. As summer progresses, it turns a deep glossy green. Stays green almost all winter. it will reach about 18-24 inches when mature and spread gently. Hardy to zone 5.
