Description
Aster – Smooth ‘Bluebird’ (Aster laevis ‘Bluebird’)
I have always been so attracted to the smooth asters. They have smooth-edged leaves and flowers that are less shaggy and more daisy-like than other asters. They tend to stay in a bit more control than the New York and New England with less pruning needed. A great source of nectar for bees and late-season butterflies like monarchs. Get to about 3-4 feet high.
Not picky – but gets stronger stems and more flowers in full sun and dry soil.
Dry to average soil. Sun to light shade. Zones 4-8. Native meadow plant.
