Description
Aster – New York (A. novi-belgii, Symphyotrichum novi-belgii). Also known as the Michaelmas Daisy.
Wonderful bright color for the autumn – blooms on or near Michaelmas – September 29th. Great native for supporting beneficial insects and pollinators, providing a late nectar source.
Likes wet soil. Gets very tall – sometimes close to 6 feet. Planting along a fence or planning for staking would be a good idea as they can top-heavy. Flowers are shades of magenta and purple. Native to wet meadows of the mid-Atlantic states.
Full sun in average to moist soil. Zone 4-8. Cut back early to keep them more compact.
All of our plants and seedlings are grown organically and are timed size-wise and transplanted for optional growth and production.
