Description
Also called Pale Purple Coneflower
E. pallida is a very pale purple with thin drooping petals… really adds a medicinal charm to the heb garden. Grows up to 3′ feet tall. Blooms in early summer. Great native plant for butterflies and hummingbirds. Foliage is a food source for Ottoe-skipper butterfly larva.
Lovely to plant with the larger and brighter blooming Echinacea purpurea.
Like most echinacea, E. pallida does best in well-drained dryish soil. Along with E. purpurea and E. angustifolia, this is a solid medicinal native plant.
