Eucomis ‘Safari Adventure’ or Pineapple Lily (gallon pot)

Description

I am a super fan of Eucomis or Pineapple Lilies – they are called pineapple lilies because the flowers with their tops of small green leaves, do look a lot like pineapples.

They form a nice solid clump in a large pot very quickly. And the flowers are stunning and unusual and tropical looking. These are officially listed as zone 6, we do have to bring ours inside the house or greenhouse in the winter.

Beginning in early summer, they start with attractive, deep olive green, wide, strap-shaped leaves emerging. The foliage lightens in intensity when the flower scapes appear. In late summer, cream flowers age to deep rosy purple. Native to South Africa.

We also have green ones with white/cream/green flowers!
