Fern – Goldie’s Giant Wood (Dryopteris goldiana).

The largest of the native wood ferns, can get to 4 feet tall. Slow spreader. A very civilized and graceful fern. A gorgeous fern for landscape design, either as single clusters or planted in mass. Does get some wind damage, so choose a spot with some wind protection if possible.

This is not a gold-colored fern – it is named after a Scottish botanist, John Goldie.

Zone 3 – 8 – native across most of eastern North America.
