Description

Washington Hawthorn is a classic native shrub/tree that attracts wildlife like crazy, especially waxwings. Gets about 20 feet tall. A slowish grower. Can be affected by some of the diseases of apple trees around here – if you have problems with your apple trees, I might not try a Hawthorn. Prune in winter. Pruning significantly helps shape tree.

White flowers in spring. Orange-red fruit in fall and winter.

A magical tree to have as a empowering force in your herbal plot. Old and ancient. Berries are used in traditional herbalism as a heart tonic and healer. This is a native North American species; has very similar herbal constituents to its European cousins.
