Hazelnut – American (3 gallon pot)

Description

I would grow these solely for the wonderful green calyxes that surround the immature nuts. It is also a great bonus that the trees do get loads of nuts within a couple years!

Hazelnuts are small trees or large shrubs – dense, mound-shaped, thicket-forming usually 6-12 ft. tall

Low maintenance and easy to grow – grow fine under Black walnut too. Average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Prompt removal of root suckers will help maintain plant appearance, and, if desired, help prevent thicket formation.
