Lysimachia ciliata or Fringed Loosestrife (3.25″ pot)

Description

A graceful native Lysimachia (Loosestrife). Doesn’t spread aggressively and is not related to invasive Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria). Grows well in full sun to shade. Medium to wet soil.

Lysimachia ciliata supports a rather rare and unusual specialized native bee, Macropis nuda (sometimes called oil bees), which harvest an oil (as well as a pollen) from the flowers of the genus that their larvae depend upon.

I have some trouble getting abundant germination – so I usually only have a couple of these available each spring…
