Description

Swamp Milkweed or Asclepias incarnata is a wonderful native plant that is easy to grow and attracts pollinators like crazy. Flowers are held in clusters. They smell like vanilla rum and are dark pink. Doesn’t need to grow in a swamp – does fine in any soil in sun or part sun.

These plants can be bothered by aphids – so keep a watch, and pick off any tops with aphid clusters as soon as you see them.

Milkweeds are famous for being the food plant for the caterpillars of Monarch Butterflies. They are wonderful native plants that support a huge range of diverse life – you’ll find an ecosystem on a single plant!
