Description

Squill is an old-fashioned conservatory plant or houseplant. It is also called a Sea Onion or a Pregnant Onion.

Squill are called pregnant onions because they reproduce in a very unusual way.  First a bump appears on the side of the mature bulb part, then eventually the bump gets so big, it pops off the mother bulb and plants itself in the soil. A very cool plant and fun to have in any houseplant collection.

Also Squill are intense species for any herbalist to have in the sunny window sill. The juice of the crushed leaves is often used like aloe vera in treating burns, cuts, and sores.
