Also known as Kentucky Yellowwood or American Yellowwood. A medium size (30 – 50 feet) native tree, with a nice square shape and impressive flower display – flowers are remarkably similar to white wisteria.
Full sun, normal soil conditions, easy care.
As a member of the legume family, this tree is a nitrogen-fixer.
Long panicles of fragrant white spring flowers, autumn seed pods and yellow fall color.
The wood of this tree contains a yellow dye that distinctively colors the heartwood and gives rise to the common name of yellowwood.
